THE | MOMENT DUMMY RELEASE
Be a part of the open-source archery movement. Before the final machined version of The Moment hinge release drops, we want you to feel it in your hands.
This free digital download includes the CAD files to 3D print a rigid, non-functioning dummy version of The Moment. Featuring a stationary hook, this print allows you to test the exact handle geometry, experiment with the grip angle, and figure out your preferred finger extension setup using a paracord shot trainer.
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: > This is a rigid, 3D-printed dummy designed strictly for ergonomic testing with a string trainer (paracord). DO NOT attempt to draw a live compound bow with this tool. The plastic hook will fail, resulting in a dangerous dry-fire, equipment damage, or severe physical injury.
What's Included in the Download:
-
Print Ready Files:
.STLand.3MFfiles for easy slicing. -
Source Files:
.STEPfiles so you can remix, modify, and experiment with your own handle geometries.
Print Settings & Tolerances:
-
Material: PETG is highly recommended for its strength and ability to hold threads.
-
Orientation: Print the handle laying flat on the build plate so the layer lines run parallel to the hook for maximum strength.
-
Walls/Infill: Use 4 to 6 wall loops/perimeters so the screws have solid plastic to bite into. We recommend 50% to 100% infill to give the dummy a more realistic weight.
Hardware Requirements (Bill of Materials):
This design is completely modular and requires absolutely no heat-set threaded inserts. The holes are specifically sized so the hardware will tap its own threads directly into the PETG. Thread slowly and do not overtighten, or you will strip the plastic.
